The Addition of our Garage for the Boat....and a Master Bedroom Suite for Me (Us)!!

Aaaahhhh, is how we will feel when the addition is finally done. If only our contractor worked on a fast pace!! Today it is raining, and we have a moat in our yard, more on that later.

It took many weeks of fighting with our county to get the permit to build a mere five and a half feet from our property line. They measured differently from our plot, so I had to do the long drive to Upper Marlboro to the original surveyor in 1997 to get a copy of the original plot. Whew! That did the trick, and off we go...

The kids were pretty excited to see a portapotty right on our front lawn! Cordell's comment "Sweeeet!" I did explain to them that it was not for them to use. What is it with boys and using the bathroom outside?

I was relieved (not that way) when they finally moved it to the side of the house and not on the front lawn. But then horrified when they moved it to the neighbors yard one day.

They are still putting in the footers. If you want to know, the dimensions of the addition is 20x32. The addition will come out the front by six feet. Yippee!! Just think - a bedroom that is 20x32 and a garage to store the boat and a couple of our cars, since we have a fleet now, with two teenagers and six cars.

Here are some random pictures of the slow progress of our footers, it depends on how many of the undocumented workers are here. (hopefully just kidding) Over the weekend we had a moat but thankfully we did not have any water come into the lower half of the house!! Whew! More on that later...
